Reading list and wider opportunities

I read magazine issue 49 which went into detail about how films are regulated in the UK. i learnt that the BBFC (British Board of Classification) deals with regulating films. It regulate films by rejecting films that shouldn't be shown to the public or gives an age rating to every movie e.g. "U" which means anyone under 12 is allowed to view but its unknown how audiences under 4 will react. However, the BBFC shouldn't be confused with censorship as censorship connotes to cultural control and moral disapproval whereas a more neutral term for what the BBFC does is regulation.

To be an examiner for the BBFC is hard, they look for broad and open minded people who also pay attention to small details. They also need to be aware of the current legislation for films. Many examiners believe that the age rating can change meaning for films for example, an 18 plus horror film fuels more excitement for the film and brings in more attention.

There was much more things within the magazine that I read about. For example, genre, ideology and values, institution, representation and much more. I found reading just one magazine gave a lot of information that wasn't too much to process and was easy to read and understand as it fit together in an interesting way.
